The moment animals enters our life they become family members, and family members matter. Losing one means your world going upside down in an instant. Unfortunately for one family, their lovely dog had been stolen and the thought of not seeing Ryder again crushed them.

The Siberian Husky from Buffalo, New York was basically dognapped.

The man who did the horrific crime was caught on the surveillance camera. But will that footage help track him down?

Ryder who is just one and a half years old got out of the house and in the backyard from where he was taken by force at around 4 p.m. Once the unidentified man grabbed the dog by the leash, he quickly went away.

The Turnage family says Ryder went to the backyard moments before he got stolen.

“I just want the dog to come home for Christmas,” Dionne Turnage told ABC WKBW Buffalo.

They had been searching for their fellow baby for days.

The family even posted the footage from the security camera on their Facebook page. They hoped to get any valuable information about who the dognapper could be.

The news about Ryder went viral and people would share the family’s plea along with the footage.

Luckily, a couple of days later, Ryder was turned over to the Buffalo Animal Shelter.

Once the shelter staff realized the dog was micro chipped, they could easily track down the owners. The Turnages were over the moon when they heard the good news.

The family’s Christmas wish of locating their lovely dog came true.

“I think it’s a miracle because if we didn’t find him, I’d be super sad,” one of Turnage’s children told Eyewitness News.

It remained unknown whether the person who stole Ryder had been identified or not.

PAWS.org believes that the most common reason for stealing dogs is to sell them to other families.

“The most common victims of pet theft are purebred dogs. Their pedigree has a street value that can fetch thousands of dollars with little effort from or expense to the dognapper,” the website says.

“Stolen purebred dogs, especially toys, puppies, and designer breeds such as Labradoodles, are sold for half the asking price of a dog from a legitimate breeder. Pets may be sold and shipped to puppy mills to be used for breeding (this is why it is essential to have your pet spayed or neutered).”

Many people do this awful act for the reward money the families offer.

Some even use them for dog fights.

In order to keep your dog safe, keep it inside the house.

Another important thing is to have it microchiped in case it gets lost.
