It makes me mad when I hear of people who neglect their dogs and treat them with disrespect. For one, dogs are family, and second, their loyalty and love can’t be measured, so they deserve only the best in return.
A UPS driver named Gavin Crowsley was on the job one day when he spotted a devastating sight; a Great Dane so neglected that he resembled a walking skeleton. On top of that, the dog was tied on a chain so short that he could barely move. There was no food or water anywhere near.
Crowsley knew the dog would die if not taken from the hands of his cruel owner right away, so he alerted Humane Society of the dog’s condition.
At the time of the rescue, the poor animal, Phoenix, weighted only 70 pounds.
It took his rescuers both time and effort to help Phoenix gain weight and resemble a normal dog again, but they succeeded, so the next time Crowsley met him he could barely recognize the dog he saved.
Believe it or not, the once skeletal dog now weighted 160 pounds. He was happy and ready to embark on new adventures with his new family.
His new humans love him endlessly and do their best to help him overcome the ordeal his previous owners made him go through.
The horrible conditions Phoenix was once kept in took their toll as he got blind on one eye and is completely deaf. He also lost part of his ear as a result of frostbite, but what’s most important is that he’s now loved the way he is.
