We have encountered many stories of abused animals so far, but this one might be the most heartbreaking of all. It’s simply unbelievable how far some people’s cruelty can go. Animals are living creatures that have soul, and can experience pain as humans do, but many don’t understand that, and treat animals with utmost disrespect and it breaks our hearts.
When the rescuers from the Animal Control took Stormy and three other dogs to the local no-kill shelter, the staff were overwhelmed by the condition the dogs were in. There were visible cuts and bruises all over their fragile bodies, and none of the employees has ever seen anything similar. The dogs were neglected and tortured, and everyone assumed they were used as bait dogs, which was terrifying.
Dog-baiting is “the setting of game dogs against a chained or confined animal as a bloodsport. The dogs bite and tear to subdue the opposing animal by incapacitating or killing it.”
It was apparent Stormy’s owner cut his body on purpose, and then threw him to the fighting dogs which would smell the blood and attack him cruelly.
A representative from the Animal Rescue and the veterinarians also reported that the dog was kept chained with a tight chain, which resulted in severe neck wounds.
Animal Control told ABC News 7 that the owners of the four dogs refused to give them up so they had to be confiscated in order to be given the appropriate medical care.
The dogs’s condition is still pretty bad, and the recovery process will take some time. In the meantime, they will be put for adoption, and hopefully, they will find a loving forever home once they recover completely.
Broken bones, bruises, knife cuts, untreated wounds, maggots, bound mouths, and undernourishment are only some of the things bait dogs experience.
We can only thank God and the kind-hearted rescuers who managed to get the dogs out of the misery they were spending their lives in.
Stormy is on the path to recovery and hopefully, he will have the chance to be adopted by people who will show him what it means to be loved and cared for, because he has never experienced any of it during his sad life.
