Terrier-Mix Naps As He Usually Does, Then Someone Asks For Him

Oh my gosh, so adorable.

What a touching ending!

This is the story of Drove, who is a very much well-loved 5-year-old Terrier mix by those who know him. One day, his life in the shelter takes a turn for the better. For the past 6 months in the animal shelter, no one has ever gave a second glance at him or given him a chance to be in a forever loving home. Drove has sadly become accustomed to this, and would curl up on his bed for a daily afternoon nap. But this was going to change – with a phone call.

Drove arrived at the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby after a Memphis animal control officer found him alone, all tied up and left for dread in an abandoned house. Despite his past and what he has been through, Drove’s loving and cheerful personality quickly stole the hearts of the Humane Society’s volunteers and staff – everyone knew him as a really easy and laid-back dog who was gentle and sweet.

Despite Drove’s great personality, no one adopted him – until a young couple did.
Morgan and Tyler Hoog had recently lost their 13-year-old Boxer, thus they have decided to go to the shelter and adopt another canine to join their family. “We were explaining to the front desk that we wanted a dog that would be our best friend and hang out with us all the time. We wanted a sweet dog that could be around children. All the humane society employees said that we needed Drove,” Morgan explained.

One look at Drove and the couple fell instantly in love with him. Morgan Hoog and her husband were also approved as Drove’s new family later on! As Drove was awakened from his afternoon nap by one of the volunteers, he was put on a leash and brought out from his kennel. Drove then remembers the couple upon sight and greeted them happily!

Drove has since been renamed Samson / Sammy, and has adjusted well to his new life and home. “We wanted a dog that had previously had a hard life, because we wanted to shower the dog with love. Since the first night we brought him home, he hates to leave our side. If my husband or I get up to grab some water, or leave the room for a second, he follows us to make sure we are not leaving,” Morgan added. Seems like Drove / Samson has found a great home – and he deserves it.
