Every citizen of our country is well aware of the sacrifice of the military men and women. That is why these people who put their lives on the line for the sake of our safety are always treated with utmost respect.
However, we should never forget that among the soldiers who fight for our freedom there are dogs as well. These brave creatures stay side by side with the humans and have their backs.
Sadly, most of the soldiers who partner with dogs have to say goodbye to one another once their mission and service are done. And the thought of never seeing their companion again is a devastating one.
Army sergeant Tom Hansen served with a dog named Tay-Tay. The two became very close, but when the time came for Tom to get back to the States, Tay-Tay stayed behind.
Until these war dogs retire, they live in military kennels, and once they are too old to do their job, they are put up for adoption. The good thing is that the first person who is offered to take the dog is the soldier they served with. But the bad thing is that the soldiers should pay for everything themselves in case they decide to welcome their former partners in and that costs a lot of money most can’t afford to pay.
Molli Oliver is a woman who helps soldiers and their four-legged partners reunite again. Believe it or not, she does it using her own resources and flies together with the dogs to their new forever homes.
“I love the dogs! I love my military! That’s taken care of my freedom my whole life, so it’s a win-win to combine the two,” Oliver said.
This time, it was Tom and Tay-Tay who were blessed to get Oliver’s help. And as this soldier waited at the airport and saw his best pall approaching, his heart skipped a beat. He couldn’t believe they will be finally reunited. And the best thing was that this time it was forever.
