He had never lost his will to live.

In Jefferson County, one man has been recently found to be guilty of abusing and dumping a little Dachshund in an extremely horrid manner. Worst still, it was not even his. He had reportedly told a detective that he thought that the dachshund, had been wearing a camera around its collar in order for authorities to spy on him – thus, he did what he thought would solve the problem.
What happened to the little dog caused 39-year-old Paul Garcia to be charged with both animal abuse and armed criminal action, after investigators discovered a fingerprint left behind on the duct tape which he used to tie the canine up. Garcia is currently in custody of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, on a $50,000 cash bond.

Garcia had used both electrical and duct tape to seal both the dog’s muzzle shut and around all 4 of its legs. He then drove all the way to a ditch and threw the dog out of his car window, causing the poor canine to land hard by the roadside.

The dog, supposed renamed “Jimmy” but was actually “Flick”, was found in by police about 12 hours later – admist the 30 F weather. Poor Flick was shivering in the cold, malnourished and even suffered from a concussion.
The Dachshund was then transported to Ivan Animal Hospital located in House Springs, Missouri. Dr. Laura Ivan took care of him while he recuperated.

“He has a little bit of a residual head tilt which basically implies that he is off balance a bit. But he’s been happy, he wags his tail a lot, he’s active, he’s eating.”

Investigators were able to link Garcia to the animal abuse case thanks to one crucial clue – DNA. Grant Bissell, a spokesman for the sheriff’s office, recalled that the deputy had sent the duct tape for evidence testing, where Garcia’s very own fingerprint was found – after carefully peeling the duct tape apart.

Why exactly did Garcia allegedly duct taped Flick was still a mystery, however. Currently, local authorities have successfully reunited Flick with his owner, where he would be safe once again.
