PETA, the acronym for animal advocacy group the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, is offering a $5,000 reward for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of a cruel person who purposely left a dog starving inside a wire crate.
When she was discovered, the dog, who was renamed Sophie was so emaciated and malnourished, that doctors didn’t think she would survive. Thanks to around the clock medical care provided by Austin, Texas-based Austin Animal Center, Sophia is recovering. In fact, in just one week, the pup who was too frail to even carry, has put on an impressive 4 pounds. Austin Animal Center took to their Facebook page to give an update on Sophie’s condition:
“And now we bring you a healthy dose of Sophie. This girl is good for the soul! Sophieis getting stronger every day. Here she is with Officer Schwettman, the animal cruelty detective that rescued her and her foster mom Elizabeth…she still needs a lot of time to gain weight and heal so she needs all the loving vibes she can get! It will be a while before she can be adopted but in the mean time, give Sophie some encouraging words so her foster mom can read them to her before bed tonight.”
Anyone with information leading to the arrest and condition of the person responsible for neglecting Sophie is asked to call the Austin, Texas Police Department animal cruelty hot line at 512.978.0523. If you would like to donate to Sophie’s medical care, please visit this link.
We Love Animals and believe in treating them with utmost respect. Please share if you do, too.
