Pet company reaches out to owner who lost his dog

What the customer service of did for this owner whose dog passed away is beyond touching.


Losing a pet can be devastating for many owners. Coping with the loss takes time as our furry pals are our family and many of us can’t imagine our days without them by our side.

Joseph Inabnet had a loving dog named Bailey who passed away. Inabet always made sure his four-legged companion gets the best, including the food. But now that Bailey wasn’t around, he ended up with an unopened bag of dog food he bought from It was worth around $70, so Inabet asked the company whether he could return it and get his money back. What the company did left him speechless.

Inabet wanted everyone to hear of the thoughtful deed by the customer service so he took to Facebook to share what happened.

They not only returned his money, but went a step further and sent him a card with a hand painted photo of Bailey and told him not to send the food back but donate it instead. This is his full post.

The pose of Bailey on that painting was her thing. Inabet said how she would always sit up whenever she wanted something.

“Bailey’s trick was sitting up. She did it to get attention, and she always wanted attention. Even on her last day, with the vet, she was sitting up when we put her down,” he said.

The post went viral and more than 250K people reacted to it. They said how what did was beyond cute. They showed how they truly care for the pets of their customers besides providing them with delicious and high quality food.

Along with the photo and the refund came a touching note.

People were so amused by this kind act that they praised’s customer service.

“The Chewy family Co. is the most outstanding company I have ever heard of. You don’t see the other Pet Food Companies treating the pets and Pet owners like family…I am so impressed by this company…Everybody should know how compassionate they are….Keep this going,” one person wrote.

When Chewy saw Inabet’s post and his gratitude towards them, they posted themselves, writing:

What the company did for him, and all the reactions from people from all over the country provided comfort for Inabet. He said Bailey was his first ever dog and the two were inseparable.
