“This video contains only one word:HUMANITY.”
Back in the hot summers of July 2018, one woman while out and about near her neighborhood located in one of Italy’s towns named Sabrina la Grotteria had witnessed one scene – and it had really touched her heart. Thanks to her, this particular story made local headlines, and touched the hearts of many others along the way. In the video she had filmed, it showed a quiet road in the city of Vibo Valentia, where one man was shown pushing his Gold Retriever along on a walk – in a push cart.
Grotteria had recorded the video when the pair was en route back home towards the end of their daily walk. It was merely a snapshot of their daily routine. That man’s dedication to helping his dear dog cope with his disability was an extremely heartwarming scene. “I was so moved that I decided to post it on Facebook,” Grotteria said.
Grotteria posted the video of the man and dog online, which was then viewed by thousands of people, nicknamed as a gesture ‘that moves Italy’. Local media paid attention to their story, and interviewed them. The man was Tonino Vitale, and he had been walking his 13-year-old dog Dylan, every single day on walks ever since Dylan his rear limbs started to fail him – due to arthritis. A very surprised Vitale hopes that their story would send the message that even animals would need love and care as they age.
“With Dylan, it was love at first sight – ever since he was born. For us, it is a normal gesture to love Dylan, but we are happy to let you know his story. It is a way to sensitize people to the importance of respecting the animals,” Vitale replied when interviewed.
