Derpressed Dog Is Alone At Shelter For 2 Years, Then Recognizes A Familiar Smell

Pakita was brought into the shelter as a stray. She was constantly looked over because people wanted puppies. Her depression worsened. But one day, she lifted her head when she smelled a familiar scent. Could it be? šŸ˜ÆšŸ’–šŸ˜ÆšŸ’–šŸ˜ÆšŸ’–

For two long years, this sweet dog named Pakita had struggled to find a home.

Sheā€™d been dropped off at Argentinaā€™sĀ Arca AnimalĀ refuge by a person who claimed to have found her wandering the streets as a stray. There, Pakita was welcomed with open arms by volunteer Silvia Ferreyra and her colleagues, but the dog was sad and withdrawn. She kept getting passed over for younger, happier dogs.

Ariel arrived the next day to meet with the dog. When Pakita was brought out, she was understandably doubtful and still a bit withdrawn. But everything changed when Pakita caught a familiar scent.

It was difficult to take a good picture of the dog because she was always cowering and putting her head down. When workers finally took a good one, it was posted online for potential adopters. They immediately got a message from a woman saying the dog was her sonā€™s and that theyā€™d been looking for her for a long time.

The womanā€™s son, Ariel Naveira, lost Pakita when she escaped his home two years ago, and he thought heā€™d never see her again. He was excited at the thought that this could actually be her.

She was so excited and burst out with joy. It was sad for Ariel to lose his dog, but this moment just about made up for it. Everyone was in total disbelief.

Now back home, Pakita is her old self once again. They are super happy together and glad to have everything back to normal.Ā šŸ™‚

Itā€™s been just over a year now since Pakita was reunited with her owner, and herĀ joy at being back home hasnā€™t faded.

ā€œWe are super happy,ā€ Naveira said.
