A fuzzy little kitten managed to stowaway in a most unusual place in a couple’s sport utility vehicle as they drove from Washinton, D.C. to Boston. It wasn’t until Michael Waters and Aiesha Dey heard faint baby meows that they figured out someone had hitched a ride.
According to MassLiveNews, the two-month-old kitten, dubbed Coffee, climbed into a spot between the vehicle’s grill and radiator. The couple suspect the kitten jumped in when they stopped at a Starbucks in Arlington, Virginia on their way to Boston where Aiesha was to start her new job.
They remembered seeing the tiny kitten running by the sidewalk and checked under their vehicle to make sure they weren’t going to run him over. When they didn’t see him, they assumed he had gone on his way and were no longer concerned. It wasn’t until 250 miles later, that they heard the meows. By this time they were in New York City, but pulled over and checked the vehicle. Somehow Coffee had wiggled his way between the grill and the radiator.
Who knows how many lives little Coffee (by now you have figured out how he was named) used up for this trip, but he had found the spot near the engine where it wasn’t too hot. As the couple coaxed the tiny hitch hiker out from his hiding place, they settled him in the car, fed him some milk and continued on to Boston.
Now settled into the safe arms of the Animal Rescue League of Boston, Coffee is being fattened up and treated for fleas. His tiny paws and belly have some scarring, and he has a few infections due to the stress of the trip, but he is expected to make a full recovery and be available for adoption in a few weeks.
Be sure this little guy is going to have a heck of a tale (tail) to share with his new family. Please remember to adopt and not shop for your next best friend.
