Family Didn’t Want Dog Anymore So They Chained Her Outside During A Blizzard

I can't imagine someone so tiny going through this.

How is it possible that some people never learn that once you welcome them in the house animals become family members and should be treated as such.

One family from Detroit apparently thought it would be fine to chain their two-year-old dog outside overnight during a blizzard.

Thankfully, a neighbor spotted the shivering animal and called Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue. He explained how the situation was severe as the dog’s paws were frozen. If they left him outside for the next night, it was very likely the animal would die.

Not only did this selfish family put the life of their pet in danger, but they also broke the law passed last February that clearly states it’s illegal to tie a dog outside more than three hours when the weather is bad.

Once the rescuers arrived, the family refused to talk to them, but they eventually agreed to surrender the dog that they wanted to get rid of in the first place.

Speaking of the incident, Theresa Sumper, the founder of the rescue organization told The Dodo: “[The neighbor] opened the door to show me that the other dog was inside, and she said that [the owner] didn’t want the dog that was outside anymore and they were just going to leave it out there. So I went ahead and said, ‘Yes, we’ll take the dog. She’s obviously injured and she’s cold and she can’t be out in this weather.’”

The sweet dog was now in the safe hands of her rescuers who named her Blizzard. She was taken to the vet for her swollen and frostbitten paws.

Luckily for Blizzard, the rescue found her a foster home even the next day. Her foster parents say how she fitted in with the family and her doggy siblings just perfectly. They can’t understand how someone could neglect such a sweet dog in such a cruel manner.

We are happy for Blizzard and we hope she’ll soon find a forever home.

In case you witness a dog or other pet being chained outside during severe weather, please contact the authorities or an animal rescue organization.
