The box was simply left there..
Back in 2017, a woman named Valia Orfanidou was out for stroll with a rescued dog, who was named Aragon, along with his owner. The trio were near the mountain of Ymittos, which was not far from Athens, Greece. Halfway throughout, Aragon looked like he had found something – he caught a certain yet distinctive scent with his keen sense of smell. Yet, he’s not sure what it actually is – and that led him to an abandoned cardboard box.
“We were walking Aragon near the mountain, actually planning to do video on the huge number of animals abandoned there, when Aragon started pulling us towards their direction,” recalls Aragon’s owner, who is also a volunteer at Second Chance Animal Rescue Society (SCARS).
Aragon’s owner opened the box up, only to find 4 black and white kittens – much to her surprise! Aragon was seeming pleased with his rescue, and seemed to tell his owner that those felines needed help. The four kittens were named Lhotse, Cho, Makalou, and Manaslo respectively, and soon settled in quick thanks to Aragon.
Aragon guarded them and even cared for them – he would gently guide them back to the plastic tray they were placed in originally if any of the kittens had strayed too far. He was curiously watching them, and would even engage in playtime whenever they wanted to. The kittens would be soon put up for adoption once they’re ready. Aragon’s owner praises him: “Basically he was the rescuer, and he has been an excellent foster dad since day one!”
