Forest is an amazing survivalist of a dog. He was running through the woods in Poland when something suddenly caught him. It was a hunter’s bear trap, and the harder that Forest fought to pull himself free, the tighter the bear trap became. He was stuck in that trap for two weeks, and only managed to survive by licking at nearby snow to get the water that he needed.
He discovered in rough shape and was immediately taken to a vet. His wounds were infected, he had worms, and his limbs were covered in blood.
The legs on his left side had to be amputated in order to save his life. Still Forest barely managed to hang in and live. He very nearly lost his life in this whole ordeal. While at the Centrum Adopcyjne Lecznicy, though, Forest made himself a new friend.
Jakub Kotowicz spent the month after Forest’s rescue caring for him and spending as much time with him as possible. The two grew to be quite attached.
After a month of care it was finally clear that Forest would live. Now he just needed to recover and learn to walk again.
Jakub was there to help with that process. The rescue center is currently trying to gather money to get Forest some prosthetics for his legs, but he’s learning how to walk without them for now.
Jakub is still caring full time for Forest. The two really have become best friends!
Forest’s ordeal was tragic and painful, and those responsible have yet to be apprehended, but things are looking up for this dog. Share away, people.
