A five year old boy burst into tears when he found his long lost feline friend at an adoption center after the cat went missing one and half years ago.
Ronnie Humber was picking up a new cat at the rescue center with his mom on Saturday, and suddenly, he started screaming with joy. He found his old cat Phoenix in the enclosure next to the cat Orlando that they were about to adopt from their local Cats Proaction charity.
Phoenix and Ronnie share a very close bond, so when the ginger cat went missing, Ronnie and his brother were devastated.
Despite going from door to door to look for their cat in the neighborhood for months, Phoenix was nowhere to be found.
Michelle Humber told SWNS: “We got told he had been taken in by an old man but we never saw him and we eventually just gave up hope finding him.”
“It came to the point a few weeks ago where we were talking about getting a kitten. The lads were really keen on the idea because they missed Pheonix so much.”
“We went to the Cats Protection and saw Orlando and went back a week later to pick him up and that is when we spotted Phoenix in the next door enclosure.
“It was amazing and the children were so pleased. Ronnie saw him straight away and was screaming and cheering with excitement.”
“He was purring as soon as we went over to him and it was amazing to be able to hold him again.
“He became such a big part of our lives and it will be amazing to welcome him back home.”
Someone brought Phoenix to the rescue center as a stray. The address registered in the microchip was old, so the staff couldn’t find his family until they came to them and reunited with their beloved cat.
“It’s a bizarre coincidence but we’re all delighted to have Phoenix back. The boys couldn’t believe it when they saw him.”

The family wanted to take both Orlando and Phoenix home, but since Orlando is FIV positive, he needs to go to a single cat or FIV+ only home according to Cats Protection’s adoption policy. You can help Orlando find his forever home here.
Update: A couple weeks later, Orlando was adopted! He went home with another FIV positive cat.
